# 21 Miles City to
Billings
Snow fell today,
6-27-18, in Newfoundland! Maybe that was
one reason to try it again next year.
After leaving Miles
City the landscape begins to change again. More pine trees populate the
hilltops. The road climbs, dips, and climbs again.
Ranches fill the flat
areas between the hills. Cows graze.
Giant sprinklers water the crops.
Deciduous trees grow around the ranch buildings.
The Yellowstone River
continues to flow west. Occasionally we see it as the road climbs high on a
hill.
Railroad workers have
employed people and machines to fix this part of the tracks. It looks like they
are replacing the ties.
As we near Billings
MT, houses and signs of a city show.
A huge refinery
welcomes visitors to Billings. I had forgotten what a big part the refineries played here. They cover a lot of land.
Here I-94 meets I-90 at Exit 0. We arrived earlier in the day, so Derrille and I went and did laundry. Then we got haircuts.
Curves coming! Yup…we
are off the plains! This curve sign represents what we usually see.
This is a miniature
golf course in the park. It had some interesting stuff as part of the décor. The little course was also part of the big buck amenities here.
At the KOA campground next to the river the Cottonwood trees created a snow storm of cottony fluff. It stuck to your shoes, your clothes, the RV….to absolutely everything.
The fluff floats
through the air like snow! The white spots on the photo that came out looking like rain is actually cotton fluff. It forms
drifts along the road.
Every site had one of
these darling swings. I may use this photo for our Christmas card.
Nice picture of you two, it will be a good Christmas Card.
