#8 Fairmont MN to Oakdale WI
Minnesota is corn country! Nearly every field shows some stage of
growing corn.
Many fields have baby green sprouts poking out
of the soil.
Some fields look
freshly plowed. Those with some water show rich looking dark soil.
Other fields lie with the remnants of last
year’s crop.
We stopped for fuel
at a station surrounded with large farm equipment. This red trailer looked
bigger than our RV. Photographing farm equipment in the mid-west is probably
like visitors to the west coast photographing seagulls. LOL
West of Rochester
wind farms abound. The size of the wind
mills continues to amaze me. It is hard to realize that one of the three rotors
takes an extra-long trailer to move it down the highway.
Roads continue to be
rough for travel.
We then began going
down a fairly steep grade. The Mississippi River makes the border between
Minnesota and Wisconsin.
We began crossing the
Mississippi. A long bridge takes you to
French Island and then on to Wisconsin.
I missed the main
Welcome to Wisconsin sign.

More Mississippi
Wisconsin looks like
the other states through which we have been traveling.
We stopped at the Oakdale,
Wisconsin KOA.
Since no eating
places were near here we ate at home. Later Derrille and Jay took their nightly
walk. They were treated to a view of 5
deer and a rabbit! Derrille appreciates our schedule where he can still walk and do his mat exercises each day.
Tomorrow: Joliet, Illinois
