#15 Westfield NY to Ontario

#15 Westfield NY to Ontario

Buffalo in the rain!  We didn't stop.  Just passing through.

At Buffalo we crossed the Peace Bridge, after paying a toll the first.

We crossed the over the Niagara River. The river actually connects Lake Erie with Lake Ontario.

We arrived at the Canadian Customs and the Canadian toll booth for the QEW…Queen Elizabeth Way

Welcome to Ontario! You know you are in Canada with a Tim Horton’s Donut Shop stands on each side of the road and you can see an A&W too.

Next we passed over the Welland Canal.  Since ships cannot get around the falls on the Niagara River, this canal provides ships passage between Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.

Scenes of Lake Ontario:  Looks pretty much like the other Great Lakes. We have seen all five now.

In Canada these blue signs with the large writing announce things of interest.  Mostly wineries are listed in this area. The Organized Crime Winery made me wonder....

Check out this apartment construction.  I believe every unit will have a view of Lake Ontario.

Signs are now appearing in English and French.

This will be my lasting image of our trip to Toronto. TRAFFIC!!!  AND it only gets worse.

I am not sure which suburb this is, however we were surprised to find many of the burbs possess towering high rise buildings.  We suspect many are apartment or condo units.

It seemed to take forever to arrive at the Toronto West KOA.  We drove through some beautiful countryside with some lovely homes.  I chose this KOA because it claimed to be only a half hour out of Toronto. The top photo is a view driving back to town.

Many of the homes stood behind the shelter of trees and you only got a quick glimpse when passing by. Some homes had gated entries.

Mowing lawns could be a full time job!

I don’t play golf, but The Crosswinds Golf Course looked inviting to me!

Passing this race track announced we were getting close to the RV Park!
Harness Racing is a form of horse racing where the horses use a specific gait. The little two-wheeled carts are called a sulky.   The number of cars parked at the track every time we passed by amazed us.

After winding through the countryside and down several small side roads we arrived at the park. The sites were nice, but we were just feet from a major freeway. At night it felt like a big semi-truck was driving right through the bedroom.

An interesting feature just down from us was the Bell Telephone Booth.  At night it lit up like a Christmas decoration.
Tomorrow we tour.
